SyrHAtech, an innovative medical device company, sets up operations in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
SyrHAtech is a Swiss SME specializing in the production and marketing of hyaluronic acid–based medical devices. It has established operations in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with the support of ONLYLYON Invest.
Founded in 2018, SyrHAtech is a Swiss SME specializing in medical devices based on hyaluronic acid. It subsequently set up operations in Saint-Germain-Nuelles, within the Communauté de communes du Pays de l’Arbresle (CCPA), to develop its innovations and manufacture clinical batches and small production runs.
This establishment, supported by ONLYLYON Invest, marks an important milestone for the fast-growing company and for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
SyrHAtech, a healthcare company
In 2018, Gilles Bos, a serial entrepreneur and expert in hyaluronic acid–based medical devices, founded SyrHAtech in Switzerland. The SME specializes in the manufacturing and packaging of these solutions. It works with around a dozen clients across various fields, including maxillofacial surgery, aesthetic dermatology, orthopedics, and surgical ophthalmology. It has also developed its own device, Healaflow, for glaucoma surgery, distributed by SaagHA in Annecy.
In Saint-Germain-Nuelles, SyrHAtech developed a close collaboration with local company Bio-Steril to leverage its clean rooms and expertise in medical device sterilization. The first product batch was manufactured in their production unit in 2020 and marketed at the end of 2021. The company therefore chose to establish itself on a long-term basis in the Lyon region to benefit from its dynamic medical and scientific ecosystem.
SyrHAtech is currently carrying out a major fundraising round aimed at significantly expanding its research and business activities, thereby securing its long-term presence in the region.
Support from ONLYLYON Invest
ONLYLYON Invest played a key role in SyrHAtech’s establishment in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. In contact with the company since 2018, the program notably guided it toward suitable real estate solutions: small clean rooms for its R&D activities and clinical batch manufacturing, as well as an industrial site for commercial production.
More recently, ONLYLYON Invest also supported SyrHAtech in its search for funding and promoted the company within local healthcare networks such as Lyonbiopôle.
SyrHAtech’s establishment, an asset for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region
SyrHAtech’s presence in Saint-Germain-Nuelles brings significant added value to the Lyon region, which stands out for its expertise in healthcare and life sciences as well as its state-of-the-art infrastructure. The arrival of SyrHAtech strengthens the region’s capabilities in the field of hyaluronic acid, which is becoming a true area of specialization between Lyon and Geneva.
It also creates synergies with other local stakeholders. In addition, job creation and collaborations with local companies such as Bio-Steril stimulate the local economy and contribute to regional development.
Furthermore, since 2023, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region has hosted a second SyrHAtech France site in Savoie, in Sainte-Hélène-du-Lac. Dedicated to the production of larger commercial batches, this site has recently received GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification.
